Restoration Home is our new six-part series, beginning on BBC 2 at 8pm on Tuesday 5 July. 
Caroline Quentin, who has a deep passion for old buildings and has restored many homes, is our presenter. The six historic properties across the British Isles were in dire straits when they were taken over by their new owners. As our families work on the buildings, I, as the social historian, and architectural expert, Kieran Long, turn detective and set off to investigate and unravel the extraordinary lives of the properties.
As the owners transform the buildings into their homes, the family trees of these crumbling ruins start to emerge. Tales of kings and queens, murder, civil unrest, moments that shocked and shaped Britain are revealed as these once forgotten gems are brought back to life.
